Inviting Darwin and Freud to the Same Party

I put it to you that you are not as in charge of your life as you think you are.  When Darwin suggested the survival of the fittest and human evolution, he probably did not consider the huge impact animalistic instinct had on humans in our relentless drive to the improvement of the species.  It was this hidden urge that Sigmund Freud called the id. This impulsive compulsion is carnal and satisfies our deepest basic desires like sex, survival (fight or flight) and food.

What the Oscar Pistorius case taught me

On 14 February 2013 a parent’s worst fear was realized  - they lost a child. For millions of others, as in the cases of other public figures like OJ Simpson and Lance Armstrong, a public figure came under intense scrutiny and a very public fall. It caused an immediate media frenzy and brought about unprecedented changes in the South African law system and the media coverage of it.

There are a number of lessons to be learned from the Oscar Pistorius case. Some readers may unknowingly already share these opinions, some might not agree with me.
